Xiahe is well-known for its Labrang Monastery, one of the six great monasteries of the Gelukpa sect (Yellow Hat) of Tibetan Buddhism. Xiahe is sometimes called “Little Tibet”. Your trip starts in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province. Drive to Xiahe, on the way you will visit the Bingling Temple Grottoes; it is made up of 34 caves and 149 alcoves for private meditation. When in Xiahe, you will explore the Labrang Monastery, meet Tibetan monks and discover the beauty of Songke Grassland. The three highlights of the area are the Tibetan Buddhism, the natural scenery and the folk local color.

Lanzhou arrival, meet and greet, transfer to your hotel in Lanzhou. Overnight in Lanzhou

Day 2     Bingling Temple Grottoes exploration (Breakfast/dinner)

Hotel breakfast, check out, then depart for the Bingling Temple Grottoes.
A visit to the magnificent Bingling Temple Grottoes in Linxia is desirable. To access the site, you will first take a boat ride above the Yellow River. The Bingling complex is made up of 34 caves and 149 alcoves for private meditation, but this place is particularly famous for the gigantic statue of Buddha Maitreya, that is Buddha of the future, which dominates the whole complex at a tall and beautiful 27 meters. The first constructions go back to 420 A.D.
After then, you will be transferred to the Xiahe for overnight.
Lunch on your own and dinner will be at a local restaurant in Xiahe.

Day 3     Xiahe exploration (Breakfast/dinner)

Today you will visit Sangke Grassland and Labrang Monastery
Sangke Grassland, at an average altitude of over 3,000m above sea level, is situated a short 14km from Xiahe. This vast expanse of grassy plains, covering an area of around 70 square kilometers, is a lonely, beautiful place that is a nice change for those from bustling city. There are only 4,000 Tibetan nomads on the grasslands, all wrapped up in their many, dirty layers, who graze yak herds and offer tourists the chance of a ride upon their horses. Entertainment here varies according to your preference.

Labrang Monastery is one of the six great monasteries of the Gelukpa sect (Yellow Hat) of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery houses thousands of cultural relics including 60,000 volumes of Tibetan scriptures which have been well preserved. Today, there are more than 1000 monks living in the monastery.
There will also be an opportunity to meet the semi-nomadic herdsmen of the surrounding grasslands.

Day 4     Xiahe-Hezuo-Xiahe (Breakfast/dinner)

Hotel breakfast, and then drive to Hezuo and visit the Milariba Buddha Pavilion

Milariba Buddha Pavilion was built in honor of Milarepa Buddha, its one of the most important monasteries of Gelugpa Sect in the Tibetan region of Amdo. The Pavilion is dedicated to worshiping Milariba, the most legendary and well known of the Tibetan people. It is nine-stories high, enshrined with the statues of Milarepa and his disciples, the founders of different schools in Tibetan Buddhism, as well as Bodhisattvas and guardians totally 1720.  The huge murals in the building can well reflect the teaching of Tibetan Buddhism, and they were painted by highly skilled artists and have a high artistic value. Milariba Buddha Pavilion is one of two monasteries that dedicated to Milariba Buddha in the Tibetan area of China, which enjoys great fame in Amdo area.

Day 5     Xiahe Departure (Breakfast)

Hotel breakfast, check out and drive to Xiahe airport and departure. Trip ends.
