Xiamen (Amoy) is located along the southeast coast of Fujian Province. Formerly an isolated island, it was linked with the mainland after the founding of the People's Republic in 1949 by the construction of Jimei and Xinglin causeways. Perhaps because of its shape or because it used to be a habitat of white egrets, it is also called "Egret Island." Located in the subtropical zone, Xiamen has warm and humid climate, with flowers blooming all the year round.

The food is certainly one of the best things about Xiamen- particularly the seafood which is exceptionally fresh. Dishes here use copious amounts of oysters, crabs, prawn and peanuts. Xiamen peanut soup is served up with everything.

Due to the typhoon, except the Jul, Aug, Sep, even the Oct , the rest season is suitable
