Lake Tai

  Tai Hu is the most famous source for 'stones of longevity' for Chinese garden construction. It is the third largest lake in China. The lake with an area of 2250 sq km and an average depth of no more than 2 m has 90 islets, large or small, plus the presence of many fleets of fishing junk boats add to its landscape, making it a remarkable spectacle. The lake has to its credit a thriving fishing industry as well as its ornamental limestone rocks that is native to no other place.

Xihui Park

  As one of the main attractions of Wuxi, the park is covering an area of 6.85 square kilometers and including glorious Xishan Hill and winding Huishan Hill. People describe Huishan Hill as a gigantic dragon and Xishan Hill as a pearl. Xihui Park is the oldest existing garden and where many relics and places of historical interest can still be found, such as Huishan Temple, Huanggong Gully, "Second Spring under Heaven" and Imperial Stele.

Huishan Clay Figurine Factory

  Clay figurines represent another type of folk art in China because they are much liked for their vivid and amusing expressions. For this reason, they make good indoor decorations and welcome presents between friends. Today there is a clay figurine factory and a research institute on the art in Wuxi. The factory not only produces traditional figurines but has made new creations of smooth lines and bright colours. Sharing the fame with Huishan in this field is a family in the northern port city of Jianjin. Nirer Zhang (the Zhang famiIy of clay figurine moulders) has been in the trade for four generations. They specialize in figures of popular tales and classical novels and are renowned for the drama and life they give their creations. They have also portrayed in clay men in various trades at different times, reflecting social life as genre paintings do.

Excursions From Wuxi

  Yixing is belonged to the city of Wuxi, is 64km from west of Lake Tai. Yixing is the pottery capital of China, it is famous for its clay teapots and ceramics.
