| Like its counterpart in Beijing, the famous Liulichang, the ancient culture street reflects the authority's effort to recreate an ancient Chinese street of the 19th century in modern high-rise Tianjin. Although everything here is not real, you can still appreciate the protruding balconies and carved columns of the red and green wooden shops with their nicely tiled roofing. "Antiques" here are generally expensive, but if you are a connoisseur of bargaining, you can still find some good souvenirs at a reasonable price. |

| On the northern side of Dongmennei Dajie, one block west of the Gu Wenhua Jie, is Tianjin’s Wen Miao. The temple was built in 1463 during the Ming dynasty then, along with Confucianists in general, took a beating during the Cultural Renvolution. In 1993 the buildings were restored and opened to the public. | ![]() |

Located in the center of the old city of Tianjin, the Guang dong Guild Hall was built in the 33rd year (1907) under the reign of Emperor Guang Xu of the Qing Dynasty. The unique building of the Chinese traditional rectangular courtyard is a rare art treasure of wooden architecture. In 1912 Sun Yat-sen, forerunner of the Chinese, revolution, once made a speech there. The guild, hall has been turned into the Tianjin Theatre Museum. |
