Climate / Weather:
Spring and autumn are the best months to visit Shanghai. The peak summer months (July and August) can be very hot with temperatures above 95˚F (35˚C) and 80 percent humidity. Most of Shanghai´s rain usually come during this time. September and October can be very windy and storm full. In winter the temperature often drops below zero (32˚F).

Events:
Moon festival: This is one of the most beloved cultural celebrations in china, marking the end of the harvest season in autumn. The main symbol of this festival is of course the moon, that’s why the Chinese people bakes moon cakes which is to be found everywhere 3th October. Houses are decorated with color full moon shaped lanterns and fruits such as melons, apples etc, to symbolize the shape of the moon.

Shanghai International Arts Festival: This is a month-long festival where Shanghai´s Ministry of Culture will host more than 150 performances covering everything from symphonies, dance and opera to acrobatics, live shows with magicians and drama actors.
Date: 18 October to 18 November

New Year Bell Striking: It is a traditional activity to celebrate the New Year. At midnight on Dec. 31st, many locals, as well as Chinese and tourists gather together in the ancient Longhua Temple, waiting for the bell to strike precisely 108 times for welcoming the New Year. This Bell striking ceremony is considered sacred for the Chinese people. In Chinese belief, this ceremony can dispel unhappiness and bring good luck to the attendants in the next year. At midnight you can enjoy the traditional Chinese New Year noodles meanwhile you watch the most amazing firework display in the sky.

Shopping: The one thing you will find most of in Shanghai City are shopping centers which mounts up on every street. Shanghai is hailed as the “Shopping paradise” in Asia, so if you are looking after a place where you want to combine shopping and adventure, Shanghai would be a great opportunity. Shanghai`s most famous street is their pedestrian street (Nanjing Road), which is loaded with restaurants, shopping malls, markets, shops, etc.
When to Go
Shanghai, like most of the Grand Canal region, endures agonizing hot, humid summers. Spring and fall are quite lovely; winter temperatures seldom fall below freezing.
