| The Peony Festival is held from 15 to 25 April every year. The best place to view the peonies is in the city′s Huangcheng Park. The park is also notable for its lantern festival, held at the New Year (lantern-making is a traditional craft in Luoyang), as well as the two Han tombs, which have been excavated beneath the park garden. The tombs are open to the public and have fine wall paintings. | ![]() |

Old Town ..................................................................................................................................................................................... |
| The eastern
quadrant of Luoyang is known as the Old Town. Though many of its Yuan and
Ming Dynasty vestiges are gone, Old Town offers a few pottery shops, along
with other craft shops, and some interesting facades. The area of Beidajia
(north of Zhongzhou Road) still has quite a few old whitewashed houses. << Back to Luoyang Info |
