Lijiang: Main Scenic Spots

It is the principal attraction of the town with its Moon Embracing Pavilion (a modern recon-struction, since the Ming pavilion was burnt down in 1950 by a drunken cadre and his mistress in a fit of suicidal romanticism or vandalism). One of the adjacent buildings is used to house the Dongba Cultural Research Institute and another, the Dragon God Temple, is a setting for flower and art shows. The Five Phonenix Hall is a piece of whimsical architectural bravura, was once part of the Fuguo Temple, which no longer exists. The hall is one of two buildings from the temple, which were transferred intact to the Black Dragon Pool Park in recent year.

Baisha is a small village on the plain north of Lijiang near several old temples. Use to be the capital of the Naxi before 1271. For people have special interest in Naxi culture, you can spend some time here.
