| Stalin Park, a perambulating zone down by the river, is dotted with statues and recreation clubs for the locals. The promenade is constructed along a 42km embankment that was built to curb the unruly Songhua River. The bizarre Flood Control Monument was built in 1958 to celebrate the embankment's victory in holding back the river, as well as to commemorate the thousands of people who had previously died in the Songhua's floods. | ![]() |
