| A holy Taoist
mountain, it is located 65 kilometers west of Chengdu. The peak is at 1600
meters. There are numerous Taoist temples en route to the summit. There
used to 500 Taoist monks in residence on the mountain, but now, there is
around 100 left. |

| 60 kilometer
northwest of Chengdu, it was one of the world's first irrigation system,
created in the third century BC by Li Bing, a minister in the ancient state
of Shu. Its scale and sophistication are a tribute to the scientific genius
of ancient China. The network of dykes and canals not only controlled flood
levels on the Mingjing, a major river in Sichuan, but also created an irrigation
system vital to the agricultural development of the region. Close to the
dyke are several old temple, one of which-the Two Prince Temple-is dedicated
